Friday Afternoon Update

Crikey, this boy is STUBBORN. Mary's on her FOURTH course of medications to assist with inducing / softening the cervix. If all is not as it should be, they'll start on a c-section. The doctor just walked into the room this very minute, and we'll know very shortly.

Mary's been feeling regular contractions for several hours now, and recently, they've been under five minutes apart.

UPDATE

Cesarian it is. The doctor checked everything out, gave us a few options, and the one that made the most sense is the Cesarian. Awaiting the final scheduling now, but he should be here before six PM.

At least 12 more hours

Nurses came in at about 7:30 this morning. It's going to be at least another twelve hours before the blessed event.

Clearly, this boy is stubborn. More to come later . . .

LABOR

Went to the doctor today. She was pretty quick to say, "you're having this baby today." Apparently, the amniotic fluid was getting low, and the boy is essentially fully cooked. We headed over to the hospital at 3PM, so that they can induce labor. The doctor said that the baby could come at any time between now and Friday.

Digs are great. Plenty of space, hardwood floors, a nice jacuzzi tub in the head. The only bad thing is that our first nurse was a Michigan grad. We asked to have her replaced tootsweet.

They did have a bit of trouble finding Mary's veins for the IV, but other than that things have been moving along quite swimmingly.

Yonk, June and Kasi joined us at the hospital, and Mollie and Paul were kind enough to drop by with dinner. Everyone has left now, and Mary's relaxing whilst I watch the Stanley Cup finals. Looks like the Ducks are gonna hoist the Cup tonight.

More posts as we get closer. Here's a few shots of mommy.

Hospital gowns are teh bomb.

Still Waiting . . .

We're in the final days (hopefully) now. The boss consented to one big belly shot, as you can see below. Nothing much else to report . . . still waiting . . .and waiting . . .

Here's a few shots from Carey's last weekend.
Jason doesn't understand how a camera operates.

From the "would you hurry up and have this baby department" . . .

Not much interesting to report. We're still waiting . . . and waiting . . . and waiting. We're now one week out from the official date, and everyone's pretty much on pins and needles.

The only exciting thing to report is the arrival of the final piece of furniture for Colin's room. Apparently, it takes longer to ship something from Canuckistan than it does something from Afghanistan. Whoddathunkit?

Here are a couple of shots of the hutch. It probably goes without saying, but I laid out all the stuff on the shelves there, so it's probably nowhere near correctly laid out. Consider these shot's an 'artist's rendering' of the final look and feel. The boss will have to come home and utter those three words all men just love to hear when they proudly say "I'm done" : ".....um......what's this?"
I can tell ya right now, I'm gonna hear about that lampcord being visible in this picture. I can just hear it now . . .

The Braces are ON

Today was a banner day in teenagerdom for Emma. She had her braces put on. She's been "oh my gawd, like TOTALLY dying" for this day for some time now. The process was relatively quick, and painless so far. In and out in under an hour.

Methinks she's going to be in for a bit more pain over the next couple of years, at least once a month for tightenings.

Not much else to report . . . just waiting for Jr. . . . .
